Edward Burger is a professor of mathematics at Williams College and is an award-winning teacher. Most recently he was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award by the Northeast Section of the Mathematical Association of America. He is known for making mathematics come to life for general audiences through his trademark exuberance and humor. He has appeared on NBC-TV, National Public Radio, and has given innumerable mathematical performances around the world. He is author of a new text, "Heart of Mathematics: An invitation to Effective Thinking", published by Key College Publishing, and gave an MAA Invited Address at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Washington in January 2000.
